The Hardest Part…?

If you’re creative and imaginative, and actually LIVE in the worlds you build in your head like I do, like, I mean, dwell there while you’re at your job, go to sleep at night, close your eyes, and put yourself in your new world to see, hear, and meet your characters, THAT KIND OF LIVE in the worlds you build. Obssessive? Maybe.

But anyway…..the hardest part of getting your stories out there? It’s afterwards! The writing is easy, fun, and you get into it. The after part just sucks. Re-reading, editing, fixing manuscripts, changing things, maybe even adding in whole pieces that work better, because I promise, when you print it and then read it on paper, it looks totally different in your head than what you see on your computer! I don’t know why, words are words right? Then give your manuscript to a few trusted people and let them read it…oh yeah! They will also give their input and advice…its sometimes awesome! Sometimes…well, not always what you wanted to hear, especially if they are the grammar police!

Then you have the publishing issues. LOTS of work. Formatting properly, send properly, package properly, bleeds, margins, art, copyrights, legal this, legal that, options, $%^th^& and so on…….it all becomes…just wow. Not so fun. And oh yeah, don’t forget about your website and online stuff. I tend to do that because I’m not a huge online person. Some people can sit for hours scrolling endlessly through online content, which, is why content creators have a role, but I’m not able to do that. Because the world holds too much fascination for me….still.

So, if you are an aspiring writer, hoping to get your material published, the easy part is writing the story…..the hardest part….comes after.
